Aachen University of Applied Sciences

FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences

The FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1971 after the merger of several technical colleges and vocational training centres. Thereby, it looks back on a more than 100-year-old practice-oriented educational tradition.

Theory and practice are closely linked up during the entire course of study. The close connection with professional practice, that more than 230 professors and approximately 700 employees maintain in teaching and research, guarantees a professionally qualifying and scientifically sound course of study.

More than 12,000 students benefit from this. The FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences offers them a first-rate education in modern and trendsetting professions. Close cooperations with regional and international business enterprises as well as renowned research institutions such as the research centre Jülich (FZJ) are reflected in the quality of the courses offered: At the FH Aachen, new job requirements are seen as a chance to constantly adjust and expand the curriculum in terms of content.

At present, prospective students can choose from 53 Bachelor's and 22 Master's degree programmes in engineering sciences, business studies and design. Additionally, some degree programmes are offered as dual and extra occupational study programmes.

An added, special advantage of the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences is the euroregional location of Aachen and Jülich, in close proximity to Belgium and the Netherlands. This internationality in teaching and studies is an essential and unique feature of the FH Aachen. We enable our students to prepare for the demands of a globalised working world and to develop the capability of cross-cultural collaboration. To this end, we support the mobility of our students and teaching staff during the course of study and in joint projects as well as through international degrees in cooperation with our partner universities. At this time, the percentage of students from abroad adds up to more than 19%.

To do so, business schools need to listen to and even anticipate the needs of businesses and translate them into skills and competencies taught in their evolving programs. Over the last two decades, growing globalization has brought with it the need to produce and sell in networks, to think in multicultural terms and to set up international projects. This new economic setting makes traditional skills all the more crucial. Professional language skills, an ability to work with partners from new horizons and an understanding of the cultural aspects of markets are assets when it comes to winning contracts, delivering products and services and setting up research and development projects. With their expertise in business teaching and research, their decades of experience in language teaching and student exchange programs and their partnerships within their local economy, the HEC Liège - Management School of the University of Liège, the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and Hasselt University find themselves ideally equipped to set up an MBA centered on the needs of businesses, whether local or international, large or small, and within a Euregional, European or worldwide scope".
