What’s better than a single online business school in today’s globalized marketplace? A global alliance of business schools sharing a digital learning platform designed to maximize all of the benefits of digital learning. That’s exactly what several of the world’s top business schools are hoping to accomplish with the launch of the Future Management Education Alliance. Here’s a closer look at this first-of-its-kind initiative.

Meeting Growing Demand

Gone are the days of “cookie cutter” MBA programs. Today’s students and executives are looking for flexibility -- along with plenty of opportunity for individualization, experiential and other learning methods. Enter the Alliance. Comprising six leading b-schools, including ESMT Berlin and EDHEC Business School, the cutting-edge partnership has the goal of transforming management education.

“Demand is rapidly growing, from business school applicants and employers alike, for programs which provide the greater flexibilities and access that today’s modern technologies can afford. New pedagogical models and greater governance are needed to ensure business schools can step up to the challenge. The Future of Management Education Alliance brings together a network of forward-thinking business schools who share this vision,” proposed one b-school dean.

Changing Perceptions

One of the primary aims of the collaboration is changing perceptions about online education through measures including bespoke programming and accessible, expert faculty with the skills and ownership to develop courses either on their own or jointly with faculty at other Alliance members. Students, meanwhile, will also be empowered to choose when, where, what and how they will learn.

Emmanuel Métais, Dean of EDHEC Business School, said, “This initiative reflects our commitment to be at the forefront of innovation, not only to provide students with a better learning experience but to make them succeed in a fast-changing world. At EDHEC, we believe that excellence and innovation are the two pillars on which our people build their own personalities and careers to make an impact on the world.”
