The 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings, published on Tuesday, June 27, places "Ștefan cel Mare" University of Suceava in the echelon of universities 1201 - 1400. Thus, USV continues to be ranked as one of the 1500 universities of excellence on the worldwide and among the top 13 universities in Romania.

For the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings, the results of 2963 institutions were analysed, of which 1499 met the rigorous criteria to be included in the ranking, with 83 new entries compared to the previous edition. In the top there are only 13 universities from Romania, just like in the 2023 edition.

This 20th edition of the prestigious QS World University Rankings is based, in addition to the already known indicators – the share of foreign students, academic prestige, reputation among employers, the number of citations compared to the number of teaching staff, the ratio between the number of staff didactic and the number of students, the share of teaching staff from abroad, three other new indicators: the impact on the labor market, the share in the international research network and sustainability.

In the 2024 edition, USV's best ranking remains for the indicator regarding the share of foreign students (position 443 in the ranking), our university having the largest number of international students among the analyzed Romanian universities. Regarding the other indicators, USV ranks as follows: academic prestige (echelon 601+), reputation among employers (echelon 601+), the number of citations in relation to the number of teaching staff (701+), the ratio between the number of teaching staff and the number of students (701+), the share of teachers from abroad (701+). In the 701+ echelon, the Suceava institution is also in the case of the three new indicators.

QS World University Rankings is considered one of the top 3 international university rankings in terms of visibility, the published results being valued for the development of public policies in education. The 20th edition comes at a time when priorities in higher education are evolving, with the QS World University Rankings in the privileged position of being a nexus for higher education, connecting with millions of students, hundreds of thousands of academics and employers and thousands of institutions worldwide. The focus on changes in the behavior of these actors, in response to wider trends in education and society, led QS to incorporate three new indicators, previously mentioned.
