Introduction
From health and science to retail and finance, big data is driving and changing every aspect of our world today — especially in business. Advanced technology now allows companies to gather and store massive amounts of data more easily than ever before. But businesses are all facing the same dilemma: how to harness that data once they have it.
All over the globe, companies are searching for leaders who can use data to solve problems strategically and make effective business decisions. Our STEM M.B.A. in Business Analytics prepares you to do exactly that. Offering equally solid foundations in both business processes and data analytics, our program develops managers and executives whose skills will be in high demand. Graduates are as comfortable communicating with managers as they are with quantitative analysts. And we keep the entire program, offered on campus and online, streamlined to just 40 credits.
STEM Designated Program
By 2028 it is estimated that there will be more than a million jobs in the STEM field. In preparation, this STEM-designated program will equip you to utilize technology, data, and business analytics to make effective business decisions and solve complex business problems.
The STEM designation offers an additional benefit by allowing international students to apply to extend their 12-month optional practical training (OPT) by an additional 24 months.
What Can You Do With an MBA in Business Analytics?

Admissions
Curriculum
With a focus on an ethics-centered education, our M.B.A. starts with a core curriculum that covers accounting, economics, the behavioral and quantitative sciences, and other key functional areas of business.
To round out your business education, you can select one elective from a field in the M.B.A. curriculum other than business analytics.
At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained and consult with an actual client in our M.B.A. consulting course.
Expect small class sizes and dynamic lectures and discussions with faculty and industry professionals. Many of our students, guest lecturers, and adjunct faculty come from the New York metro area's leading companies, infusing each classroom with their unique perspectives and expertise.
The Business Analytics electives (12 of the 15 -credits) are offered entirely online. The program balances courses in business processes with courses in exploratory and predictive analytics. The four three-credit courses cover the essentials you need to know — from using R/Python, JSON/XML, and SQL, to examining business processes through their data models, to extracting meaning from big, unstructured data.
For this portion of your program, you can complete work and watch lectures independently at the times of day that work best for you. In addition, because the Stillman School values community, a weekly, synchronized recitation session will allow you to discuss problems and brainstorm solutions with your instructors and fellow students.
Core Courses
- Introduction to Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
- Databases and SQL
- Exploratory Data Analysis and Data Visualization
- Any other business analytics course (assuming prerequisite completed)

Career Opportunities
International students with a STEM-designated MBA in Business Analytics have robust career opportunities in the U.S., often sought after for positions like Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or Analytics Consultant in sectors ranging from finance to healthcare. Their ability to stay in the U.S. for up to three years post-graduation without an H-1B visa, thanks to the extended OPT, increases their chances of securing positions that require advanced analytical and quantitative skills. Their specialized expertise makes them prime candidates for roles that drive data-driven decision-making within organizations looking to leverage big data for strategic advantage.
