Entry requirements
We welcome students from all regions of the world and from a wide range of sectors and job functions. Our students come from technical or engineering backgrounds; they’re experienced project managers, local government or healthcare professionals, doctors and accountants working in the energy, IT, education and charity sectors. And it’s this diversity that enhances your MBA journey and provides you with an experienced MBA network to work with and learn from.
You will need:
- a minimum of three years relevant managerial or professional experience
- a good degree (or GPA equivalent) or relevant postgraduate/post-experience qualification from a recognised institution, or a professional qualification from an approved and recognised body that is equivalent to a degree
- two written references (normally one academic).
- Alternatively, if you have considerable management experience you can apply for the MBA programme without a degree. We usually require seven years' relevant managerial or professional experience.
English language requirements
To get the most out of your MBA experience a good level of English is important so that you can contribute as fully as you'd like to the discussions and make the most of the incredible networking opportunities the MBA programme offers.
If your main language is not English, we may ask you to demonstrate that your level of English is good enough to study at the MBA level.
If we ask you to take the British Council IELTS qualification the minimum level required is normally 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing. We can advise you on other acceptable alternatives.
If you need to improve your English language, you can join our pre-sessional courses including a Summer Programme.
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
We welcome applications from candidates with a GMAT score. We do not routinely ask for GMAT scores, but we reserve the right to ask candidates to support their application with a GMAT.

Curriculum
The Oxford Brookes Global MBA is an accredited MBA for experienced managers and professionals, which develops your personal and professional expertise. You'll apply what you learn throughout your MBA as you focus on your current role and performance and how to further develop your future career.
We offer a highly flexible part-time MBA and you can choose to study online (with some face-to-face study) or mostly on-campus in Oxford, or through a blend of both. There is a minimum face-to-face requirement of two three-day residential hotel-based workshops and one six-day on-campus module in Oxford. These are available at various times throughout the two-year period. You can choose to take these 12 days in a row or bite-sized blocks of three and six days.
There are additional opportunities for live, synchronous interaction within each module, as well as by taking more modules as on-campus intensives than the minimum required.
The MBA induction helps you understand the rigours of MBA study and to acquire the key MBA study skills needed to succeed. From the start, we'll teach you how to critically analyse real-world cases and the fundamentals of virtual collaboration and teamwork. We'll encourage you to assess your career up to this point with an honest self-audit. With our support, we will help you think about what you expect to get out of the MBA, and what you are able to put in.
MBA structure
The MBA syllabus has a wide range of core compulsory MBA modules, covering all key aspects of business administration and management. While you study MBA subjects separately, you learn how they link up in practice through engaging case studies and ‘Leadership challenges’. During the Critical Approaches to Business module we also teach the critical thinking and research skills essential for your MBA studies and final project.
After the core compulsory modules, you choose two MBA elective modules and, for the final stage of your MBA programme, you choose a final MBA project. This can be a dissertation, an individual consultancy project, a group consultancy project or a business start-up plan. Through the final project, you connect the knowledge and expertise you have gained throughout the MBA by exploring an interest in depth.
Throughout your MBA studies, we focus on your career development. During the Personal and Professional Development module you develop a personal and professional development journal which results in an assessed action plan for your career.
Wherever you’re based in the world, we’ll make your MBA study experience highly personal and supportive, and while getting an MBA you will develop strong collaborative relationships with our MBA community of fellow students, alumni and academic tutors.
