The NJIT EMBA is designed to prepare a new generation of technology savvy business leaders and entrepreneurs with the skills to succeed in an increasingly complex and competitive business environment. The curriculum prepares students to think strategically about business and technology.

The cost of the EMBA is comparable to that of many "traditional MBA programs.

Our philosophy of management education is based on relevance, practicality, and innovation. The EMBA is designed to meet these objectives while also meeting the needs of people working in challenging careers.

An Innovative Curriculum: Directed Study, Blended Learning, and Saturday Classes

From the day we launched the EMBA, we learned that one of the most important take-aways for students is knowledge that translates directly into the workplace. We are building on past successes with directed study. Directed study refers to projects that link course concepts to work-related issues and problems that students face every day. These projects are guided by the instructor who serves as a mentor and advisor.

We have also learned that there is a considerable difference between contact hours and quality contact hours. The most common EMBA schedule is 5 full-day classes spanning five weeks (every other Friday and Saturday). Our extensive experience using learning technologies led us to blended learning as a better model. By blended learning, we mean a mixture of face-to-face classes, online interaction, and directed study.

Most courses meet on alternate Saturdays over five weeks so that students are in class every other Saturday for a period of 18 months.


The Executive MBA Curriculum

The Executive MBA is an accelerated, 48 credit program that can be completed in 18 months of alternate Saturdays.


The EMBA Experience: Immersion, Application, Integration

The lock step, accelerated delivery of the EMBA curriculum provides a unique, value-added experience geared to the needs of high potential managers and professionals.

Immersion: Working with a cohort of students that offers a breadth and depth of business experience in an accelerated mode of delivery facilitates immersion in courses. As the program unfolds, students become increasingly skilled at rapidly grasping and applying key management concepts.

Application: Directed study and work-related projects ensure that course knowledge translates directly to the workplace while the course is in session. Students receive feedback from each other and from their instructors about how business concepts can be applied to their work setting and their career interests.

Integration: The EMBA provides several capstone experiences where themes from related courses are synthesized and integrated. For example, the foreign study tour in the Global Competitiveness course contrasts American management strategies and practices with those in different parts of the world. Similarly, marketing, finance, and innovation management are linked in our Management of Technology course as students work to understand how technology creates value with new products and services.
