Maynooth University has 37 academic departments within three faculties, covering science, engineering and social science, the arts, languages and philosophy. The departments all offer degrees at undergraduate, master’s and PhD levels.

Maynooth University is located 25 kilometres from Dublin, in Ireland. The university is an internationally esteemed ‘young’ university, with a rich heritage, that offers an excellent learning experience. It was ranked as one of the top three Young Universities in Ireland and 86th in the world in the Times Higher Education Young Universities Rankings 2024.

Maynooth University is one of four constituent universities of the National University of Ireland. Approximately 16,000 students, representing over 100 countries, call Maynooth home.

Maynooth University has 37 academic departments within three faculties, covering science, engineering and social science, the arts, languages and philosophy. The departments all offer degrees at undergraduate, master’s and PhD levels. Undergraduates benefit from the flexible learning system, where they have the power to choose subject combinations across different departments. There are also many one-year taught master’s degree programmes on offer, several of which include internships.

Maynooth is also close to industry giants and has formed strong links with global businesses. Interdisciplinary research is integral to the university’s academic endeavours, and Maynooth University prides itself on applying equal emphasis to teaching and research. The campus features twelve research institutes and two university centres that conduct pioneering work. Two Nobel Peace Prize winners have been among Maynooth University’s alumni and staff.

The Maynooth University campus is laid out on its own extensive grounds in rural surroundings and is divided between an older complex of fine nineteenth-century buildings and a modern complex of teaching, research, accommodation, and support facilities.

    Taught Masters Scholarships 2025/6

    We are pleased to offer a number of scholarships valued at €2,000 for EU students joining full-time taught masters programmes in the academic year 2025/6.

    • Student Residences: This service is for Student Accommodation within the On-Campus Residences for the full academic year (North Campus only) during the academic year and operates from September to June annually.
