Introduction
A dynamic environment for business leaders
Built from the best of three accredited University of Colorado business schools, the CU Executive MBA is the program of choice for business professionals.
The CU Executive MBA is designed to meet the needs of strategic decision makers. Instead of focusing on day-to-day business operations, CU Executive MBA students learn how to develop a broad business perspective, how to think strategically, and how to make confident decisions based on bottom-line results.
The program features outstanding faculty, a collaborative learning environment, dynamic classmates, and real-world, case-based curriculum. The degree can be completed in less than two years, and is designed for minimal career disruption.
If you are looking to grow your business leadership skills, we encourage you to take the next step in your career by enrolling in the program.
Why an Executive MBA?
In today's business world, leaders are increasingly relied upon to interpret critical information in order to make important long-term decisions for their organizations. While traditional MBA programs focus primarily on the day-to-day operations of business, the Executive MBA is a program specifically designed to meet the needs of strategic decision makers.
If you're an experienced working professional, you can obtain your MBA in less than two years—while you continue to work. The CU Executive MBA Program is specifically designed for working business professionals, decision makers, entrepreneurs, and professionals working in engineering, medical, legal, and scientific fields who want to:
- gain a broader business perspective
- improve their ability to think strategically
- apply the techniques and tools learned in classes to problems and situations faced on the job every day
- build confidence in themselves and their ability to make sound business decisions
- acquire the credentials necessary for professional advancement
- demonstrate their willingness to accept and successfully meet the business world's challenge
All classes in the three-campus University of Colorado Executive MBA Program are held at the CU Executive Education Center. The Center is centrally located in Downtown Denver, convenient to I-25, Auraria Parkway, and Speer Blvd. The Center is at the west end of Larimer Square in LoDo, giving Executive MBA students the additional after-class benefits of all the amenities downtown Denver offers.
The facilities are designed specifically for the executive-level student and the classrooms resemble a technologically advanced boardroom more than a classroom.
Academics
The best senior faculty from all three CU business schools have pooled their talents to create an integrated, quantitative curriculum for the Executive MBA Program. You will gain knowledge of basic business disciplines – accounting, marketing, organizational behavior, etc. – then integrate them into your strategic decision-making processes.
Year one lays the foundation and culminates with an integrative seminar that helps you apply what you've learned to your own organizations.
Year two takes a broad approach, thematically based on thinking strategically in a global economy.
The two sessions are separated by a three-month summer break to allow participants to re-charge and spend time with families and friends.
Curriculum
The fixed sequence of courses – beginning once a year each fall – permits integration of subjects from course to course. Courses are related to each other and to the business world.
CU's Executive MBA Program provides an integrated curriculum. When the courses are taken in the prescribed order, they provide a comprehensive business education.
Overall, participants complete 16 courses in the order presented here, for a total of 48 semester credit hours for graduation, providing a truly comprehensive business education.
