“Jinan University established business discipline as early as in its early stage.” In 1918, Mr. Huang Yanpei, a sage of Jinan sharply realized “in essence, current commercial and industrial competitions are knowledge competitions”, and then promoted the establishment of business discipline at Jinan University. Later the business education of Jinan University has been passing the flame and developing in an endless succession, and experienced nearly a century’s social changes, endeavor, and improvement.

As early as in 1918, Jinan University has set up the business school. Throughout several decades, the forerunners and colleagues have been endeavoring continuously and set up a solid foundation for the development of current Management School.

At present, the School benefits from the cross-fertilization of such branches of learning as economics, law, sciences, engineering, medicine, and management. It covers 4 first-rank disciplines, namely Business Administration, Management and Engineering, Applied Economics, and Applied Psychology. It enjoys doctoral degree authorization for 2 first-rank subjects, 6 second-rank subjects, and 2 post-doctoral workstations. The comprehensive strength of the School has provided a good platform for the development of such subjects as EMBA, MBA, MPAcc, MPA, and master of Engineering, etc. Meanwhile, the close tie of the School with the society and the market has also brought life force and vitality to the development of the discipline.

Besides, the Management School also attaches great importance to the academic exchanges with well-known universities and institutes abroad. For example, agreements have been signed between the School and Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania in U.S.

In recent years, there has been a tendency of internationalization among the management schools in China. The so-called “internalization” means that management science shall learn from the fruits of civilizations all around the world and participate in the building of the business administration and public administration cultures. The basis of internationalization is domestication. That is to say, the primary task of the Management School shall be to draw from and reflect over the best management practices that are geared to the domestic needs, as well as to cultivate managers that can serve the economic and social development of the country.

The Management School of Jinan University inherits the tradition of “loyalty, honesty, perseverance, and respect” and carries out the strategy of “school for overseas Chinese+ famous school’. With the strong support of the management sciences, especially the branch of business administration, the School strives to build itself into a first-rank management school in China and a cradle of outstanding Chinese management talents by innovating, adapting itself into the times, and constantly improving the educational system, forms and content. Only in such a way can it build the Management School into a world-famous Chinese educational brand in the international business education circle.
