Slovenia's educational system is ranked as the fourth best in the European Union, and the country boasts a 99.6 percent literacy rate. Slovenia has affordable tuition fees as compared to other similar quality university systems. Public universities offer free tuition to European Union students, with a small registration fee of EUR 30 per year. Those who study on a part-time basis or who are not from the European Union will pay EUR 1,500 to EUR 10,000 depending on the study program. However, across the board, business studies tend to be on the more affordable side. Tuition exemptions are available to certain students as well.

Slovenia has a two-semester academic year. The academic year starts on the first of October and runs through the 30 of September. Studies begin with first level cycle, which is a three to four year program of study and is similar to a bachelor's degree. After completing the first cycle, students can pursue specialist studies in their profession, which last for one to two years. Masters studies in Slovenia are scientific and research-based, focused primarily on science and technology fields. Advanced business training occurs in the specialist studies.
