As a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Macau offers many of the benefits of Chinese life, with less regulation as is found on Mainland China. Macau is located on the Pearl River Delta's western side, with Hong Kong to its east and the Guangdong Province to its north.

Macau is distinctive because it is one of the richest cities in the world. The GDP per capita is higher in Macau than in any other country in the world. It is known for its gambling trade, as well as tourism and manufacturing. Its people also have the second highest life expectancy of any people in the world. These facts combine to make it an excellent place to study business.

Business Studies in Macau

Macau has 10 higher level institutions of learning, but only five of them offer traditional studies, such as business studies. These schools offer bachelor's degree programs, which can be completed in three to four years, followed by master's degree programs, which take an additional two years. Upon graduation with a business degree, students are well positioned to enjoy careers in business throughout Asia, as well as the Western world.

International students are welcomed to many of the colleges and universities in Macau, but admission may be a challenging process. Students who are interested in business studies in Macau should talk to the school of their choice prior to enrolling to learn what the enrollment requirements may be. Students are commonly asked to submit test scores along with their application to show they are ready for the program.

Because Macau does not have its own university educational system, but many of the schools follow the British university structure and calendar, which is broken up into two primary semesters and a summer term. The fall semester typically stars at the end of August, with the spring semester beginning in January, but these dates may vary depending on the school chosen.

The cost of studying business in Macau will also vary depending on the school chosen. However, foreign students pay significantly more than Macau and Chinese students. Student will also need to plan for the costs of room and board during their stay in Macau. Students will need to discuss the price with the school of their choice.
