The Washburn University MBA program is designed for working professionals, with each course scheduled once a week 5:30-8:15 p.m. Small classes are taught by highly qualified, experienced faculty who provide valuable tools to compete in a real world business environment. In addition, students can interact in the classroom with other professionals from top companies in the area.

Washburn University School of Business is consistently ranked by Princeton Review as a "Best Business School." For the last five years Washburn MBA students consistently scored at or above the 80th percentile on the national standardized Major Field Test for Master of Business Administration. The program is accredited by AACSB-International.

Program structure

Our MBA program has three parts: an orientation , the curriculum, and a closure experience.

All degrees are welcome

Whether your undergraduate degree is in the arts, business, economics, nursing, science, or social work, the Washburn MBA program will work for you. Most students have work experience and are working full-time while earning their degree, but neither is required for admission. Your peers typically range in age from their 20s to their 50s, with an average age of about 30. International students constitute about 20 percent of the MBA student body.

Requirements Domestic Students

Admission requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

One of the following:

  • Specified minimum score on GMAT or GRE or LSAT
  • Bachelor of Business Administration from AACSB accredited school with GPA of 3.3 or greater
  • Graduate degree
  • Two letters of reference

Official transcripts from school awarding bachelor's degree

$40 application fee

Transfer policy

A maximum of nine hours of graduate credit in the upper-level MBA program may be transferred from an AACSB-accredited graduate school and posted on the Washburn University transcript. Requests to transfer courses must be made to the Director of the MBA program.

Law School courses

Up to six hours of credit from an ABA-accredited law school may be applied toward the 30-hour upper-level MBA requirement. The law school credit must be in business related, non-required law school courses approved by the School of Business. Washburn University offers a dual JD/MBA degree.

International Students Admission Requirements

University credential equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate (bachelor's) degree, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. GPA must be verified by Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Education Services (WES).

One of the following, with official results submitted to Washburn:

  • GMAT score of 450 or better
  • Combined GRE score of 300 or better
  • Post-graduate academic degree
  • Balanced Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT score of 80 or better; or balanced International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5 or better.
  • Two letters of reference
  • Official transcripts and its ECE or WES evaluation
  • $40 (U.S.) MBA application fee

Note - GMAT or GRE may be waived by satisfying these conditions:

1) Demonstrated High Level Language Proficiency: TOEFL iBT score >= 90 OR IELTS score >= 7.0 and

2) GPA >= 3.3 on scale of 4.0
