Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Recognizing that the success and survival of any organization depend much on the effectiveness of its management, the UUM Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate Business School offers an MBA program designed to develop business leaders equipped with the necessary skills to face the ever-challenging business environment.
Our MBA does not only allow you to gain understanding about how a business organization functions in the context of the globalized world, but it also offers the opportunity for you to apply your functional knowledge effectively in solving complex business problems and issues. Through the theoretical knowledge imparted during class meetings, case studies discussions, small workshops, and group presentations, you have the opportunity to critically appraise the functionality of the management theory, and evaluate its applicability in today’s business organizations.
Program Aims and Learning Outcomes
This program is designed in such a manner so that students who go through the program will be able to perform the following:
1.Integrate and apply advanced business knowledge and skills in managing organizations.
2.Apply practical skills within the organization toward the accomplishment of business objectives and goals.
3.Exercise analytical ability and apply social considerations when making business decisions.
4.Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with different stakeholders.
5.Develop social skills and demonstrate social responsibilities when working in a team.
6.Demonstrate professionalism and compliance with ethical standards in executing accountabilities and responsibilities.
7.Create a continuous learning culture by using information and communication technology to keep abreast with the changing business environment.
8.Exhibit managerial and entrepreneurial skills for effective decision making.
9.Portray leadership qualities in managing a business strategically.
Admission to MBA programme can be granted based on the criteria specified below:
1.A Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75 and have at least three (3) years of work experience relevant to the chosen area of specialization; OR
2.a diploma from any institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with at least ten (10) years of relevant work experience, 35 years or older and passed APEL Assessment (level 7); AND
3.Fulfill the English Language Requirement as set by the University Senate.
* Selection is based on the Admissions Committee’s careful evaluation of the applicant’s academic history, English Proficiency Test results or TOEFL/IELTS, recommendations, work experience, interviews and commitment to complete the program. In the selection process, the Admissions Committee evaluates the applicant’s academic ability, personal character, motivation, leadership ability, interpersonal skills, work experience and management potential.
