The School's programmes are tailor-made to fit students' career choices and job market demands. Programmes currently on offer are Bachelor of Commerce with areas of specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Management Science , Actuarial Science and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

The School also offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing Management, Human Resources Management, Finance, Entrepreneurship Management, Strategic Management, Project Management, and Management Information Systems.

Other programmes include Master of Science in Finance, Marketing, and Human Resource Management.The school offers an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) in the City Campus. The programme, whose duration is one year, is offered through evening and weekend classes. This programme was revised in November 2014.

The school is offering the Doctor of Philosophy in Business (PhD) by course work and thesis. The doctoral programme offers diverse areas of specialization which take care of the key areas of knowledge and expertise within the school.This Programme which was launched in January 2010 was revised in November 2014 to meet the market dynamics.

The School undertakes industry linkage for student placements, research and project appraisals to market students. The school has linkages and partnerships with local and international institutions.

The school has rebranded itself to ensure timely completion of degrees, crafted innovative ways of supervising large number of post graduate students, introduced processes re-engineering to ensure high quality delivery of content.

The school will launch the following programmes in 2015;

Master of Business Administration in Procurement and supply Chain Management and Master of Project Planning Monitoring and Evaluation. All this is in line with the KU school of Business slogan which is:

“KU School of Business .......Developing Competitive Global Business Leaders”

Entry Regulations

  • The common regulations for master degree in the University shall apply.
  • The general regulations for all Master degree in the School of Business
  • The following shall be eligible for registration for the MBA degree in the School of Business:
  1. A holder of bachelor’s degree with at least uppers second class honors. or
  2. <li> A holder of at least an upper second class honors degree of any other recognized university. Or</li> <li> A holder of a lower second class degree from a recognized university with proven ability in research, administration management. Or at least two (2) years working experience.</li>

Pattern of the program

  • The program of study for the MBA degree consists of coursework, examination and project.
  • The program is offered in six (6) modes of study, full-time, part-time, Evening and Weekend Classes, Institution Based Programmes and Open, Distance Learning.
  • At the end of the programme a student will be required to have specialized in any of the following:
  1. Marketing Management
  2. <li> Strategic Management</li> <li> Human Resource Management</li> <li> Entrepreneurship Management</li> <li> Management Information Systems</li> <li> Project Management</li> <li> Finance</li>

In the first year of study, a student will be required to take all the 10 core units offered in the school. During his/her second year of study, a student will be required to take six (6) taught units in the first semester and write a research project equivalent to four (4) units in the second semester.
