International Accreditation — As of August 2016 — Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University is an accredited member of AACSB international — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (http://AACSB.edu/) Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University is one of only three institutions in Japan to achieve this accreditation. Out of these institutions, we are the only one offering an undergraduate business curriculum in both English and Japanese and have the only AACSB-accredited English language MBA program in Japan. Course Structure and Content The GSM curriculum consists of four components: required subjects (analytical foundations, core business fundamentals and capstone courses); elective subjects (specialization courses); core-related subjects (courses related to the core business fundamentals and Japanese language courses) and management seminars. Students need to complete forty-four academic credits of which twenty-two credits will be from required subjects, eight or more from specialization subjects and six credits from management seminars. In addition to fulfilling the credit requirements, students must also conduct a research project and complete an extended piece of writing in the form of a master’s thesis, independent final report or internship-based case study. The research project must be approved by the university. Students will also have the option to take basic Japanese language courses, credits from which will count towards program completion requirements. Japanese language knowledge has aided many of our GSM graduates in seeking employment at Japanese companies. No extra fees will be charged for earning more than forty-four credits.
