The mission of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program at the Institute of Business and Economics is to provide an excellent graduate education that will allow students to succeed in a business environment that is characterized by

- rapid technological advancements;
- a work force of ethnic, cultural and gender diversity;
- demands for continuous improvements in quality and service;
- demands for continuous individual and organizational learning;
- demands for the understanding and skills needed to practice in
global markets.

The MBA Program is designed to provide students with a balance of functional expertise and general managerial competencies. Students may select an area of concentration, allowing them to tailor the program to meet their individual career goals.

In pursuit of this mission, the objectives of the Institute of Business and Economics are to provide students with:

- a balance of theoretical concepts and practical approaches to
business problem solutions;
- a balance of quantitative, analytical, and interpersonal skills;
- opportunities to experience and gain expertise in leading edge
instructional and business technologies;
- an understanding of the ethical, political, social, legal and
environmental issues that form the context for business;
- opportunities for international educational experiences;
- a broad, multidisciplinary, strategic vision that allows them to
manage innovation and change.

In support of these objectives, the Institute will:

- encourage and support its faculty to engage in basic and applied
research, professional development, consulting, curriculum
development, and other intellectual contributions that will
enhance classroom performance;
- establish linkages with Russian and international business
communities and educational institutions through seminars,
training, consulting, joint education programs, and other
exchange programs in an effort to promote business education;
- encourage faculty and students to provide service to the
Institute and its community.

Structure of the Program

The MBA program consists of the following sections:

11 courses taken during the first year of the program

Core Courses:
3 courses providing the foundation for the advanced work that occurs later in the program

Required Courses:
3 courses taken during the second year within a selected option

3 courses taken during the second year

Capstone Experience:
A comprehensive course integrating knowledge gained in the core and option courses


In addition to general and required courses, the CSUH MBA program provides for concentration in certain business areas. These business curricula are called options.

Options differ by at least three courses. Some options are more general (Business Economics, Marketing, Management Sciences, Finance), others are more specialized (Taxation, New Venture/Small Business Management). To take an option in line with the individual\'s prospective career path, one has to choose from a number of required and elective courses and be advised by the administration of the Institute. Students can take more than one option (two, as a rule). The option obtained is recorded on a graduate\'s diploma.
