What you will learn
The course is designed to provide a comprehensive grounding in all the key aspects of personal business skills and managerial development. You will be challenged to analyse and examine the business environment and understand different business models. You will also be given the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts to your personal and organisational settings by examining many of the challenges that businesses face on a day-to-day basis.
What you will study
The Bolton MBA involves the study of seven modules and you will also produce a research-based dissertation.
The modules are:
- Management and Leadership;
- Managing Finance;
- Managing Business Performance and IT;
- Managing People;
- Managing Change;
- Strategic Management and Marketing;
- Research Methods;
Each module is worth 20 credits except for the dissertation which is worth 40 credits.
Assessment is by essays, case studies, reports and presentations as well as the practically based dissertation.
To obtain an MBA you are required to achieve 180 credits. The postgraduate diploma in management studies is an interim award (120 credits). The postgraduate certificate in management is also an interim award (60 credits).
You must have both of the following: significant work experience in a business or management capacity; and the UK honours degree/postgraduate degree (or equivalent).
If you do not have the above qualifications but do have substantial management experience you may be considered for entry onto this course.
If English is not your first language you will also normally need IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent). If you do not have the required English level, you can study English with us from IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent).
When applying you must include a reference from your current employer. The reference should clearly state how long you have been employed by them and give a breakdown of your job content and roles and responsibilities.
