The Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program enables graduates to successfully compete in the rapidly changing business world. Students may choose from the accelerated one-year General MBA and concentrations in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship. SC State University’s MBA program is accredited by AACSB International-the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB is the premier accrediting body for business programs, with only 5% of business programs worldwide earning this distinction. AACSB-accredited schools must pass very rigorous quality standards, and are recognized worldwide by top employers.
The MBA program offers convenient evening, weekend and hybrid (a combination of classroom and online instruction) classes to meet the needs of recent college graduates as well as seasoned professionals seeking career advancement and personal growth. The outstanding faculty utilizes theories, case studies and technology in practical real-world contexts to enhance the learning process. Students undergo a thorough preparation in advanced business skills in the areas of accounting, economics, finance, international business, management, and marketing.
Graduates with the MBA degree are prepared to begin or advance successful careers in various industries including the agribusiness sector, financial institutions, real estate firms, insurance and investment companies, consumer products firms, as well as in federal and state government. In addition to developing refined management skills for corporate America, graduates are also trained to become successful business owners.
Admission to the MBA Program is open to prospective students with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a regionally accredited college or university. Students lacking undergraduate coursework in business may be required to take up to 12 hours of foundation courses in accounting, economics, finance and management or marketing, in addition to the curricula for the MBA program. In some cases, significant professional work experience will be considered in lieu of undergraduate business coursework.
