Program Description

Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Swiss Umef University

Program Brief

This program allows the student to acquire a mastery of the principles of strategic management, management control, financial management, human resource management, project management, etc., from a global and cross-cutting approach of the company.

All master’s programs at UMEF are strictly compatible with the Bologna Process and are thus an ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), with a minimum duration of 2 years (i.e. 4 semesters, of which one semester is dedicated to the thesis) and a maximum duration of 3 years on condition of acceptance by the management. To graduate, students need to have acquired 120 ECTS credits through courses and a thesis. Thus, students will be easily mobile among other campuses or institutions.

UMEF has two enrolments per year, in October and March. But it should be noted that UMEF has the right to modify the precise dates. To be admitted to the program, candidates must have obtained a bachelor’s degree or other diplomas judged to be equivalent.

Master of Business Administration

General description:

This program allows the student to acquire a mastery of the principles of strategic management, management control, financial management, human resource management, project management, etc., from a global and cross-cutting approach of the company.

Training objectives:

At the end of this program, the student will be equipped with the capacity for research and analyses of quantitative and qualitative data. He shall be critical in his/her approach and be able to use economic and financial language to analyze complex situations, debate and make rigorous proposals.

Opportunities:

Various management positions (Administrative Director, financial director, management controller, financial analyst, business economist, treasury manager, controller, internal auditor, etc.,) in private, public structures and associations.

Internship:

The internship included in your program will imbue you with practical experience and an opportunity to apply in real working environment knowledge acquired in the classroom.

MBA option Human Resources Management

General description:

This program offers the student of human resources, managerial, interpersonal and negotiating skills.

Training objectives:

At the end of the program, the student shall be capable of managing personnel, prevent and manage social conflicts, He/She will be able to carry out training, the development and assessment of his/her collaborators.

Opportunities:

Management positions: Director of Human Resources, HR Consultant, HR Project Manager etc.

Internship:

The internship included in your training course will give you practical experience and the opportunity to apply in real working environment knowledge acquired in the classroom.

MBA option Marketing

General description:

This program provides the student with extensive and practical training in marketing and sales functions.

Training objectives:

At the end of the program, the student will master the analysis of the environment, prescribe and carry out marketing studies. He will be capable of taking decisions and implementing strategies and marketing actions. The student will be capable of communicating and managing independently a project in an international and multicultural milieu. The student must be able to head projects in an intercultural context.

Opportunities:

Management positions in the areas of marketing: marketing manager, product manager, project manager, brand manager, head-end, an official for market research, marketing assistant.

Internship:

The internship included in your program will imbue you with practical experience and give you the opportunity to apply in a real working environment the knowledge you acquired in the classroom.

MBA option Leadership

General description:

This program gives the student the tools indispensable to the transformation of his character and his behavior such that he can become an actor in the transformation of his socio-professional milieu. The training is based on the principles of leadership, which is primarily concerned with meeting the objectives of the organization and the full development of the people he leads.

Training objectives:

At the end of the training program, the student shall have mastered the tools of management sciences (finance, production, marketing, human resources, information systems, etc.) He will be able to communicate, animate a team, motivate, design and head projects so as to meet the objectives in while motivating his team.

Opportunities:

Management positions in international organizations, public and private enterprises.

Internship:

The internship included in your program will give you the practical experience and the opportunity to apply in a real working environment the knowledge you acquired in the classroom.

General description:

This program will provide the student with an understanding of the concepts, methods and most recent management tools of organizations and of public action.

Training objectives:

At the end of the program, students have mastered the concepts used; he/she will be capable of meeting the challenges of contemporary public administration. He/She will be able to carry out a reflection on the evolution of their department.

Opportunities:

Management positions: Chargé de mission, consultant, functional or operational managers within the administration, public companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations, etc.

Internship:

General description:

This program lays emphasis on the international dimension of the economy. It allows the student to understand the challenges of globalization in the areas of monetary, economic growth, world management, international finance, risk management.

Training objectives:

At the end of this training program, the student will be equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge to enable him/her analyze and assess the strategy adopted by the company and economic policymakers in the present context of economic crises in the developed countries (European Union, United States, etc.) and the emerging countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa etc.)

Opportunities:

Positions of responsibility in financial institutions, international organizations, consultancies, and companies.

MBA option International Banking Operations

General description:

This Masters program covers the area of management, organizational accounting, financial analysis and corporate and market finance. This specialized training will review financial decision-making, risk management, and financial market behavior.

Training objectives:

At the end of this training program, the student shall master techniques used in capital markets; he will acquire sound knowledge of the institutional environment and regulatory activities relating to financial activities and capital markets. The use of languages particularly English is an important component of this training.

Opportunities:

Management positions (Financial analyst, economist, etc.,) in banks and financial institutions, brokerage firms, companies and private capita companies.

Internship:

Conditions for admission into a master’s program:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an approved university/college

  • Copies of all transcripts
  • An application form for admission, duly completed and signed
  • Strong command of written and spoken English
  • A Curriculum Vitae, duly signed and dated
  • A copy of your identity card or passport
  • Three recent passport photos
  • Proof of financial resources
  • A 250–350-word motivation letter
  • An interview with a professor or the Dean of Faculty
  • A non-refundable registration fee of CHF 150
