The programme aims to increase professional knowledge of business administration. During the autumn semester, the students are offered advanced professional studies in English and business software, research and development studies as well as future-oriented business studies. In the spring semester, the students have two study modules: International Business Management and International Business Development.
The module International Business Management covers the following courses: Business Ethics and Sustainable Management, Strategic Management, Financial and Management Accounting and Change Management.
The module International Business Development covers the following four courses out of which the students choose two: Organizational Behavior and Development, Advanced Enterprise Resource Planning ERP, Entrepreneurial Management and Leadership, Functionality of SAP ERP System. Additionally, the students write their Master’s thesis on some study-specific topic during their third semester.
Having completed the programme, the students have grown into business management professionals, capable of independent decision-making, working with management or demanding expert tasks in businesses that operate in international business or as independent entrepreneur in international business.
Mode of study
Multimodal learning methods are used. Live lessons are offered at Kokkola Campus during the week. Furthermore, independent distance studies (on the student’s own time) are required. The learning process consists of lectures, exercises in class, independent work as well as distance learning assignments and development projects. The thesis as a development project is an essential part of the studies.
Most of the graduates of the programme work in different specialist or management positions in business and industry. Under the Finnish legislation, a person who has taken a Master’s degree at a university of applied sciences is qualified for posts or positions in the public sector for which the qualification requirement is a first cycle/second-cycle degree. In some cases, the qualification requirement also includes the completion of studies in certain specific fields of study.
You are eligible if you have a higher education degree (Bachelor's diploma) completed outside of the EU/EEA countries. You must have at least two years of relevant work experience gained after obtaining a higher education degree. Applicants are also required to be in good command of the English language since the Master's studies are conducted in English.
More specific eligibility criteria will be informed as soon as the next application period is confirmed. The dates will be confirmed in autumn 2021 at the latest.
Tuition fees and scholarships
Tuition fees are charged from Master’s level students studying in languages other than Finnish or Swedish. Tuition fees will be charged from citizens of a country outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
The tuition fee for the Master's degree in International Business Management (MBA) is 7500 € / academic year.
If a student completes the whole degree programme within one and a half years, he or she will be able to apply for a 50 % refund of the second year tuition fee (3750 €).
