Consultancy Projects

A unique feature of the Nottingham Business School MBA is the opportunity to put your skills into practice during two hands-on business consultancy projects. The Team Consultancy Project in the UK

You will take an integrative and critical approach, in a UK location, to applying the perspectives and disciplines covered during the course, and experience a strategic management perspective.

How you’re taught

The way we teach

We've developed a cycle of learning based on theory, practice, experience and observation, and reflection and improvement. So, you'll not only be taught the latest strategies but also given every opportunity to put your learning into action in real business settings. We structure our courses to encourage constructive learning, self-directed study, critical thinking and teamwork. You'll spend much of your time in small groups workshops and tutorials, discussing and analysing your experience of business practices and behaviours.

Personalisation

We know our postgraduate students are a diverse group, with different levels of academic knowledge in their chosen area of study, different cultural and educational backgrounds, and varying levels of personal and professional skills and competencies. The motivations for undertaking postgraduate study vary, but the two main motivators, according to the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (2017), appear to be grouped around two main themes; ‘career progression and employment prospects’ and ‘personal interest’.

At NBS we strive to ensure that these two motivating factors are nurtured and therefore supported. Our students are encouraged to practice and develop the skills and competencies required to critically reflect on their learning, and on their ability to apply this learning to their studies and to real-world complex issues within the workplace. Through a series of curricula and extra-curricular initiatives, strengthened by tailored academic mentor support, NBS provides all our postgraduate students with the ability to participate in a range of challenging and unique activities, projects, events and experiences to enable our students to succeed in a competitive and dynamic global environment.

Study and support

Teaching and learning methods are centred around interactive workshops which are highly participative in nature and will employ case studies, discussions, business simulations and group activities.

Interactivity is key to our teaching and we are committed to providing courses that adopt teaching methods that are appropriate to the student cohort and the specific modules.

We ensure that support and guidance are in place, especially during the early stages of the course and assessment periods, to help you become comfortable with operating in a student-centred learning environment.

All our courses begin with a comprehensive development programme that will help you prepare for your studies and develop key academic and transferable skills. A key feature is a short residential team-building course, normally in the Peak District.

You will also have opportunities to meet members of the teaching team and other postgraduate students, receive detailed programme information, and gain valuable support and guidance from the library, careers service, international office and Student Support Services.
