Hungary's higher education is divided into colleges that offer bachelor degrees and universities that typically offer master's and doctoral degrees. The 2014 Global Competitiveness Report ranked Hungary's tertiary education system #44 out of nearly 150 countries. Hungary began using the Bologna Process to restructure their higher education system in 2005, a process that now governs all bachelor degree programs.

How Long Does It Take to Earn a Business Degree?
Most bachelor degree programs encompass business, economics and science fields that take three years to complete.Other fields of study (teaching, health and engineering) take three and a half to four years to finish. Obtaining a master's in business requires students study another two years at a university in Hungary.

How Long is an Academic Year in Hungary?
An academic year lasts from September to June and consists of a fall and spring semester. Exam periods can last up to six weeks, depending on the student's major. Before entering a higher education institution in September, international students taking a class instructed in the Hungarian language will need to pass an examination to show a level of proficiency in the language. Undergraduate students must earn a minimum C1 on the language test per the Europass Language Passport.

How Much are Tuition Fees?
Each year, Hungary's government appoints a number of students as "state-funded" students who do not have to pay registration fees or tuition. EU students living in countries that have certain educational agreements with Hungary may also qualify for state-funded student status. Alternately, non-EU students will have to pay tuition (averaging 1000 EUR/$1120 USD per academic year) and registration fees (anywhere from 40 to 800 EUR/$45 to $900 USD).
