FlexMBA students excel in their current roles and are ready to take on more responsibility and make greater contributions. The part-time MBA program enables students to meet goals they and their organizations have set for their educational and professional development.

The FlexMBA is designed for working professionals with demanding jobs and responsibilities. The administrative support provided by the Rady School allows you to maximize your time focusing on your studies and building strong connections with fellow students, professors, and business leaders. When life happens, the FlexMBA staff offers advice and assistance to ensure you maintain your academic progress and achieve your goals.

Rady’s support services include:

  • Course registration and parking pass distribution
  • Meals and lodging on FlexWeekends
  • Lodging during FlexEvening residentials and dinner for FlexEvening class nights
  • Videotaping of classes missed for business reasons
  • Textbooks and course material distribution
  • Online learning management system providing syllabi, class materials and a communication channel for faculty and students
  • Teaching assistants and review sessions with hours convenient for working professionals
  • Rady study spaces open around the clock
  • Access to MBA Career Connections, the school’s MBA career center

FlexEvening

  • Two evenings weekly
  • Completed in 30 months.
  • Complete your Rady MBA without regularly scheduled time away from your workplace.
  • Opening and mid-program residentials provide more intensive interaction with classmates.

FlexWeekend

  • Friday and Saturday of alternating weekends.
  • Completed in 24 months.
  • Focus fully on your education in intensive class periods.

Curriculum

Immersion in Innovation

The Rady MBA curriculum provides the analytical and theoretical frameworks for rigorous business decision making. Our world-class faculty teach you to identify and capitalize on new trends, ideas, and technologies. You will gain the practical knowledge needed for your success as an entrepreneurially minded leader. We emphasize innovation-driven industry sectors, especially those propelled by discoveries in technology and science.

Lab to Market

Required of all Rady MBA students, the capstone Lab to Market course sequence puts your core curriculum and elective knowledge to work. In this unique, action-learning based course sequence, you explore a project of significance to you by learning to assess which innovations are worth pursuing while bringing those concepts successfully to the marketplace. Lab to Market takes you out of the more structured academic framework of the core curriculum and puts you in a real-world environment, evaluating and pursuing potential business opportunities in collaboration with a team of classmates.

At the Rady School, we believe teamwork and collaboration are essential for successful innovation and that action learning is a critical component of your education as an entrepreneurially minded manager and leader — so you will see these elements integrated into every aspect of our MBA program.

Your classmates bring deep experience in a wide variety of industries and functions to each class discussion or project. Project Teams

In electives, independent study and Lab to Market, you will work in teams formed around specific projects, interests or ideas. Project assignments are designed to ensure that you apply your new knowledge to real world problems or situations. Issues you and your organization are facing become, in real-time, the subject of project work, demonstrating the value of your educational investment to your company.

Study Groups

In the core curriculum, your study team is your home base and your support network. Every team represents a diversity of educational and professional backgrounds and perspectives. You will find teammates whose strengths complement your own, and who help you learn in one area as you help them in another.

Our robust core curriculum delivers a strong foundation that prepares you to make adept decisions in an ever-changing business environment. Beyond business cases and formulas, the Rady MBA core curriculum encourages collaboration, classroom discussion and interaction.

Electives: Focus Your MBA Experience

Our elective courses are a tool for you to focus your educational experience on your personal and professional goals. More than half of the Rady MBA curriculum is elective and our diverse range of electives deepens and enriches your education. Whether you focus on one of the core functional areas of business – perhaps marketing, finance, or operations – or emphasize electives critical for innovation, like new product development or new venture finance ,or take advantage of Rady's action learning electives like technology commercialization or venture capital management, Rady's electives provide you with the knowledge and skills critical for working in innovative industries.
