Module core

The Master's degree course contains the following core models

propaedeutic

In Propaedeutic, participants are introduced to the learning model of the EUROPEAN EMBA. This includes the positioning of the program with global and integrated management approach as well as the academic orientation as an applied business program.

An introduction to the topic "Business Research" prepares for the preparation of the modular papers and the thesis. Team-building measures to build a collegial network to support the learning process complete the module.

Managing the Corporation

The Executive MBA prepares the participants for the management of companies responsible for organizational units. Particular importance is given to corporate governance, performance management, change and organizational learning. Technical opportunities are often the starting point for the renewal of the existing business the start-up of new companies. A deepened understanding of these topics will be acquired here.

Global Business

The Executive MBA program is internationally oriented. This module takes place in cooperation with a cooperation partner in North America or Asia. It enables a deeper understanding of the trends in business in the global social and political context in order to successfully shape a business strategy in the long term. The clever orientation within the framework of International Business is indispensable for companies of all sizes. Purchasing, sales, production, financing, technology of support and performance processes are all intertwined internationally and enable competitive advantages when used with skill.

The module includes an approximately 10-day trip (net 1 week on site). Change teaching units with company visits and excursions to relevant organizations or Localities to understand the economic, political and social environment.

marketing

Marketing is changing dramatically among the opportunities arising from the technologies around the Internet. Individual measures which are not integrated in the overall strategy of the company have a low efficiency without sustainability.

The module is based on established marketing strategies to achieve a sustainable differentiation. New possibilities resulting from online marketing and cross-media marketing are developed. It focuses on the development of relevant strategies and measures as well as on their implementation and evaluation.

Human Resource Management

It is not untypical in service companies that 70% of the costs are directly related to the staff! Are people a cost position or Resource that is to be managed efficiently or do they have a specific property that allows this only indirectly?

This is a challenge in the tension between global sourcing processes, the specific cultural identity of an enterprise, high potentials that consciously manage their careers and move without a suitable framework after a short time or people who simply need a job to pay their bills. The module meets these different requirements and addresses the "hard" and "soft" factors. The consideration of human resources as a full-time equivalent under strategic aspects as well as the design of the individual career are handled. Leadership under intercultural conditions forms the connecting link.

Finance and Risk

A deepened understanding of the economic framework, managerial accounting, accounting within the framework of international standards and the decision-oriented application of key figures are indispensable in the management of a company.

The global development of recent years has shown that the prudent handling of the risk factor is an existential factor in turbulent markets. The occurrence of "black swans" is accumulating. In order to make the success sustainable, the topic is taken into account in an integrated risk analysis - financial, political, human, technical and organizational.

Compulsory Elective

There are a number of well-being possibilities offered. These are in the amount of 8 credits (eight days parental leave). The Compulsory Electives are either carried out directly by the Executive or with a co-operation partner (with an extra charge).

Module - Specialization

Within the framework of the EMBA program, a deepening direction is obligatory. This includes 8 credits. The teaching language is German. Parts of the teaching materials are in English.

Dates: 24.-25.05. 2013; 28-29.06.2013; 26.-27.7. 2013; 23.-24.08. 2013

The visit is also open to anyone who does not participate in the EMBA. However, they must in principle meet the requirements for admission to the EMBA.

We offer three wells:

  • Change Management
  • Innovation Management
  • Marketing

Change Management

Perhaps the only constant in the economic life of the 21st century. Century is the permanent change. Panta Rhei - Everything flows. In order not only to tolerate changes, but as an opportunity, it is indispensable that managers are competent in designing change processes. In other words, they must be professionals in change management.

The well is divided into the following four cures:

1. Organizational Change - The Foundation

2. Personal Change

3. Developing Teams - Managing Conflicts

4. Managing Change

In the modular work, the current theory is used to analyze, evaluate and optimize an ongoing or completed change management project.

Innovation Management

The deepening of innovation management is designed to enable you to develop and develop innovative processes in your company. You deal with how your company deals with opportunities, how to integrate customers into development processes at an early stage, and how to promote an innovation culture internally. Particular attention will be given to the opportunities created by new technologies.

The well is divided into the following four cures:

1. Innovation Management - The Foundation

2. Technology Management

3. Implementing Innovation - From Idea to Concept

4. Implementing Innovation - From Concept to Market Success

Modular work allows the application of what is learned to one's own enterprise.

marketing

The deepening is designed to be of interest to people from service and production companies. The focus is on four topics:

1. Creating Lasting Customer Relationships

2. Services Marketing - Developing Strategies for Success

3. Strategic brand management for premium goods

4. Marketing and Achieving a Competitive Advantage through a Global Supply Chain

A transfer-oriented modular work in conjunction with one's own company completes the learning process.

examination system

The test system is based on three levels

1) Courses

Every course will be subject to an apprenticeship examination. Tasks are to be prepared and presented in the course. Based on this performance as well as the constructive participation, the course will be considered as passing or non-passing. Failure to do so will result in a repetition.

2) Modules

Within the scope of the Modularbeit, the learning transfer of the respective courses of the module is checked. The work should be theory-based and application-oriented.

In the sense of the learning model of the EUROPEAN, the learning levels are to be given priority in the field of analysis, evaluation and creativity.

Based on the Integrated System Model of the Organization (ISMO), the focus is on the Executive (Strategy, Guidelines and Programs) subsystems and Corporate Governance (Governance and Culture).

A logical and structured approach within the framework of academic and professional criteria is obligatory.

One task is to be processed for each module. Per module, there can be several tasks from which to choose.

The scope of the work is between 3000 and 4000 words.

The modular work is assessed according to international criteria (Percentage Grade: A, B, ... F). If the minimum criteria are not met, the work has to be re-written.

3) Master thesis

The Capstone module includes the master thesis, which is created by the student. After approximately half of the study period this can be addressed. The elaboration of the thesis is based on an in-depth seminar on business research, in which the proposal for the thesis is being worked on.

The topic is to be derived from the work environment of the student and the practical benefits of the enterprise. In addition to the supervision by the Thesis Coach, there is a supervision offer, in which groups are exchanged under the supervision of a research supervisor. The work on the thesis takes about half a year (lead time). The scope is 25 000 words. After approval of the thesis, this is defended before a commission.

learning model

The learning model qualifies participants for the positioning of the programs of the HSO Executive Business School according to the following graphic. It is to be viewed as a multidisciplinary management program whose range goes from local to global. The learning levels focus on analysis, evaluation and creation.

Within the Integrated System Model of the Organization (ISMO), see Figure 2, the focus is on the two subsystems "Executive" and "Corporate Governance".

The students are to be empowered by organizations (enterprises) Organizational units (business units) from the perspective of management.
