The EMBA program of study reflects our commitment to relevance and excellence by focusing on strategy and the integrative nature of the business environment in which senior executives operate. The EMBA program of study reflects our commitment to relevance and excellence by focusing on strategy and the integrative nature of the business environment in which senior executives operate. Each year approximately 50 persons are admitted to the program. Participants are expected to retain their full-time job responsibilities throughout their EMBA study. Two years of study are required - each consisting of four terms. Two one-week, in-residence study programs are respectively scheduled at the beginning and end of the program. The first-year program provides a solid foundation in all major business functions and an introduction to the various changing business environments. The second-year program uses a functionally integrative approach that emphasizes broad-based strategies and policies. Methods of instruction The EMBA method of instruction consistently takes advantage of the strong and diverse management experience of the participants. The methods of instruction vary, but may include formal lectures, seminars, case analyses, simulation games, and individual and group projects related to current management issues in the participants’ host organizations. To enhance the educational value of the program, participants are expected to contribute to small and large group activities within a highly interactive learning environment. Study groups are formed with participants from varied backgrounds and experience levels. Here, effective communication and teamwork skills are practised with the aim of achieving our EMBA objective. Admission Requirements Applicants must: have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or professional qualifications equivalent to a degree, normally, have at least 7 years of post-qualification business or relevant work experience, including 5 years in a managerial position, and hold a responsible, senior management position. The JD/MBA program, is jointly hosted by the CUHK Faculty of Law and Business School. It will equip you with the depth of legal knowledge and business sophistication required in a wide range of leadership roles in Asia. This is an academically rigorous and professionally enriching program that leads to the award of both a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in a shorter period than would be required if the degrees were taken consecutively. Under this integrated program, up to 12 units of MBA coursework are recognized toward fulfillment of the JD requirements. Similarly, the MBA programs recognize up to 12 units of JD coursework toward fulfillment of the MBA requirements. Students admitted into the integrated program can thus reduce their combined units of study by up to 24. Program Structure The JD/MBA program is offered in both full-time and part-time modes. Part-time MBA The Part-time MBA curriculum consists of core and elective courses. Each calendar year is divided into three regular terms and a summer term. To graduate, part-time candidates are required to complete 48 units. The part-time curriculum normally takes 24 months to complete in the evening and weekend modes.
