Since its foundation, TUM School of Management has quickly established itself as one of the foremost business schools in Europe. We are highly rated for our outstanding teaching and research activities. For years, we have held one of the top positions in the CHE University Rankings. In 2012, German business newspaper Handelsblatt named us the best business faculty in Germany. Both are leading rankings of German higher education institutions.
Our structure TUM School of Management's interdisciplinary approach is focused on the interface between management and technology. We have almost 30 full professors and 250 other staff members who work in the School's own departments. They are also active in interdisciplinary and interfaculty projects with other parts of the university and external partners. Our activities are structured around five academic departments: Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Operations & Supply Chain Management, Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Strategy & Leadership and Economics & Policy. Many of the professors working in these departments are internationally recognized leaders in their fields.
The School is also home to three research centers, run by the School itself and two organized jointly with other institutions. These centers bundle our research competences and link us with partners in industry for the purposes of research and innovation. The research centers run by the School are the Center for Entrepreneurial and Financial Studies (CEFS) and the Center for Energy Markets (CEM). The School is engaged to other research centers: the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) and the Center for Digital Technology & Management (CDTM).
At TUM School of Management we are passionate about teaching. We offer three Master's programs, two of which are split into two distinct tracks: the Master's Program in Management & Technology (Track 1 and Track 2), the Master's Program in Management (Track 1 and Track 2), and the European Master’s Program in Consumer Affairs.
We welcome Ph.D. students. Our graduate center organizes postgraduate seminars, mentoring and networking opportunities. We also run a pre-doc program for international applicants. We are active in the area of gender mainstreaming. In particular, we offer special support for female doctoral students.
In addition, we are committed to providing first-rate executive education – training for professionals already working in their chosen fields. We offer a general Executive MBA, an Executive MBA in Innovation & Business Creation and an Executive MBA in Business & IT. Beside this, we organize customized programs, training and e-learning sessions for professionals.
One of the unique things about TUM School of Management is our truly interdisciplinary approach. Building the bridge between management and technology, we enable our graduates to work side-by-side with engineers and scientists, ensuring that they speak the same language. We place a strong emphasis on project work and international experience (for example in the form of exchange semesters). Courses are structured to guide students' development and accompany them into the professional world – indeed, we even have our own Career Service Center. Our solid network of business and industry contacts ensures that we recognize current requirements in industry and can react accordingly. We mentor our students closely. Tutorials and seminars take place in small groups and we regularly organize information events. We strive hard to ensure the very best study conditions and to achieve a high level of student satisfaction. To this end, we carry out continuous student assessment of our programs and encourage feedback. Our students are highly motivated, committed and hard-working.
