Introduction

BRAC Business School (BBS) strives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of managing business and non-business organizations through excellence in business education, training, research and advisory services. Pursuant to its mission of creating and disseminating knowledge in the field of business and management, the school offers an undergraduate program (BBA, Bachelor of Business Administration) and three graduate programs (MBA, Master of Business Administration, EMBA, Executive Master of Business Administration and MBM, Master of Bank Management). The areas of specialization of the school are Accounting, Finance, , Human Resource Management, Marketing, Computer Information Management, E-Business, Entrepreneurship, and Operations Management..

Under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb (Vice Chancellor, BRAC University), and support of Mr. Mohammad Rezaur Razzak (Associate Professor & Acting Head of Operations, BBS) some of the finest faculty members in business education are working at the school, and their endeavors are supplemented by high class practitioners such as Professor Emeritus Hafiz G. A. Siddiqi (former VC, North South University, and former Director, IBA, Dhaka University), Dr. Mirza Md. Azizul Islam & Dr. Akbar Ali Khan (former advisers to the interim Caretaker Government of Bangladesh), and Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed (former Governor, Bangladesh Bank).

The research works of the BBS faculty members have been commended in the business profession and published in various national and international journals. The focus of is not limited to education and research. It encourages the students to participate in various extra-curricular activities through its student clubs– BRAC University Business Club (BIZ BEE), BRAC University Marketing Association (BUMA), Entrepreneurship Development Forum (EDF) and the MBA Forum. The aim is to instill leadership qualities in the students of BBS by engaging them in these student platforms. Owing to the very high quality of the programs and the school’s commitment to the business education in Bangladesh, a rising number of applicants have been consistently attracted to our BBS programs. At present BBS has around 2600 students enrolled, and the alumni of BBS are proving their excellence at home and abroad, and are the brand ambassadors of BRAC University.

The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program of BRAC Business School is a part-time skill based program requiring 45 credits (15 courses). It is expected to be completed within two years. The EMBA program of BRAC Business School (BBS) is designed for business executives, civil servants, social entrepreneurs, NGO executives, military officials and other professionals. Some salient features of this program are interactive learning, case based teaching, weekend classes, small class size, experienced faculty members and comprehensive examinations. BRAC Business School (BBS) has highly qualified and experienced faculty members with degrees from reputed Universities, from both home and abroad. The school also has a large pool of adjunct faculty consisting of experts in the corporate sector and multi-national organizations. It is a carefully blended combination of practical and theoretical business education. This 2-year, 60 credit program which includes the completion of 20 courses and an internship is designed for graduates who would be entering the job market for the first time, mid-level executives in organizations aspiring for career advancement, career-changers exploring new industries, or entrepreneurs who would like to jump start their first business venture. The program is taught by seasoned academics and industry experts drawn from BRAC University’s eminent list of senior faculty members and a large pool of adjunct faculty developed through the university’s unique network of collaborative partnerships with various institutions from home and abroad. In the second year, students can select from one of several specializations allowing them to choose a field of study which enhances their skill profile.
