Strategic Design MBA
Philadelphia University’s pioneering Strategic Design MBA combines the analytical intelligence of business with the creative intelligence of design to develop hybrid thinkers who are able to identify opportunities and solve complex business challenges across industry sectors.
Students from diverse business, technology and design backgrounds apply design thinking and design principles – married with cutting-edge business analytical tools – to deliver smart, desirable, feasible and marketable product, process and business model innovations.
Smart, desirable, feasible, marketable innovation to make the world better is what we do. IT'S WHAT YOU'LL DO.
The challenges in today’s business world have become increasingly complex and ambiguous in nature; solutions need to extend beyond product innovation to encompass business processes, organizational structure, operational approaches and service delivery. By applying the integrative design method traditionally applied to the design of products, to design innovative solutions for services, marketing, finance and operational challenges in a business, solutions are developed which are more functional, elegant, creative, efficient and profitable.
Strategic Design MBA – Four Modules
The program includes 10 courses divided into four modules: frameworks, processes, implementation and the summative project. The courses in each module leverage the previous module to develop a deep understanding of the ways that strategic design operationalized in a business context delivers a clear advantage in problem framing and problem solving. INDUSTRY IMMERSION – Three of the 10 courses involve projects with real organizations, either in the students’ own organizations or with other businesses eager to form working partnerships with PhilaU Strategic Design MBA students.
Designed specifically for high-potential professionals – typically with five or more years of experience – this MBA program is a low-residency, hybrid program where each course will meet 4 times on every-other Friday afternoon and Saturday.
Small cohorts of students from a single business are welcome and can use the program as an extended learning lab to tackle challenges unique to their organization.
With energetic innovators and thought leaders as fellow students, and faculty who blend state-of-the art practitioner experience with excellence in the classroom, graduates exit the program with a ready-made network capable of bringing long-term value to themselves and their organizations that extends well beyond the formal material covered.
Applications are now being considered for the January 2012 term. As part of the inaugural program we are offering a tiered discount to students starting the program this January.
