The MBA is the leading, internationally recognised flagship qualification for many Business Schools. The MBA is a postgraduate career development generalist degree. It is distinctive from other postgraduate management qualifications in that it adopts a strong practical and professional orientation.
The emphasis in MBA study is on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required for strategic leadership of organisations. The Northampton Business School MBA programme is designed to meet the needs of existing and potential senior managers and entrepreneurs in all sectors of employment and is suitable for those who may be expected to make a significant contribution to managing at a strategic level in an organisation.
MBA study aims to:
- Equip course participants with the knowledge, skills and competencies to manage effectively in modern, complex and increasingly dynamic business environments, making use of the examination and application of modern management concepts and techniques as a means to this end.
- Give participants a thorough understanding of business and management processes and help managers and aspiring to develop their effectiveness, improve their performance and accelerate their career development and progression, by building upon the skills learnt through their own management experiences to date and the pedagogical interventions offered.
The MBA offers a rigorous and intellectually demanding programme of study and the opportunity for personal development. Therefore, rigorous consideration of theory is linked to the practical world of sustainable leadership, business and management.
Evidence indicates that, to compete in an increasingly challenging market environment, managers need comprehensive professional education and development in order to achieve these goals. The MBA programme provides a significant opportunity to help meet this need for existing and potential managers based within the region, in other parts of the UK and EU and internationally.
As a postgraduate degree, the modules comprising the MBA suite are demanding both in terms of entry qualifications, rigour and workload, and they therefore require commitment and dedication from participants. The method of teaching is participative, enabling participants to contribute from their experience, the pedagogical interventions provided as well as learning from lecturers and from others in their groups.
