The Sobey MBA is flexible and dynamic. We emphasize active learning, with small classes that make it easy to interact with our exceptional faculty. You’ll have opportunities to consult with local business and organizations on real-life business problems and give back to the community. Working in groups within a multi-cultural and inclusive environment, you’ll develop your leadership and communications skills.

The Sobey MBA prepares you for a variety of career choices — from management positions in multinational corporations to directors of not-for-profit organizations; from business analysts to entrepreneurs. We offer extensive career services to students, and our graduates have an excellent track record of employment success, here and around the globe. Within six months of graduation, 95% have secured positions with the remaining 5% pursuing more education.

Full-Time MBA

In your first year of the Sobey MBA program, you’ll take foundational courses that will sharpen your leadership skills, develop creative thinking and analytical abilities, and provide teamwork opportunities. Your second year involves advanced study—you’ll apply what you’ve learned and you can also choose to focus on a specialized area.

Throughout the program, you’ll establish strong and valuable links to the business community through our professional development and extra-curricular opportunities. The full-time program can be completed in 16 months, or 20 months with an internship or international exchange.

Our part-time MBA is a great option for professionals looking to enhance their current career, or move into a different one.

Our part-time MBA consists of the same 20 courses completed in the full-time program. Courses are offered work days, evenings or weekends, giving you flexibility to schedule your studies around work and family commitments.

Your classroom education is rounded out by hands-on experience as you complete either an applied MBA consulting project or a research-based project.

If you have a previous business degree from a recognized university, you may be eligible for advanced standings in some of the core courses.

Accelerated MBA

The Sobey Accelerated MBA is designed for students who have graduated from a comprehensive four-year undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. This is a 13 course program, which can be completed in 12 months full-time or 24 months part-time.

In this program, you will take advanced-level courses and specialize in one area. You’ll also apply your knowledge in practical settings through a consulting project or master’s research project.

MBA Program Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree (any discipline) from a recognized university with at least a B average or equivalent.
  • GMAT of 550 with minimums in qualitative or quantitative sections (50%) and 5.0 in the essays. We will also accept a GRE.
  • 2 years of work experience strongly preferred, 3 years for those with a 3 year undergraduate degree.
  • For non-English language candidates minimum TOEFL IBT is 100 (no band below 22); IELTS of 7.0 (no band below 6.5).
  • We look for demonstrated leadership qualities.

  • The MBA Supplementary Form‌, which includes two essays (250-300 words each) and short answer questions

Have official transcripts for all universities and colleges that you attended sent directly to Saint Mary’s University in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. Official documents should be mailed to:

GMAT Preparation

Students often have many questions about the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) exam and may even find the idea of writing the exam intimidating. That’s why we provide support to help you prepare for the exam and reduce any anxiety you may have in anticipation of writing the GMAT.

This six-week GMAT preparation course provides an in-depth look at what to expect on the test. The course offers an overview of the Math and English components of the GMAT and helpful tips on how to prepare, analyze test questions and cope with exam anxiety.
