Program Description

Global MBA

West Texas A&M University - College of Business

Since 1994, the College of Business has been offering the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in the form of a global delivery.  The global program revolves around a three-tiered system: faculty members traveling to foreign locations at different times of the year to hold concentrated courses, Internet-based instruction, and/or abbreviated or regular class sessions on the WTAMU campus.  The admission and course requirements for the Global MBA are the same as the traditional campus MBA program.  Slight differences exist in all global locations and some locations revolve around a diploma option so please contact the director of graduate programs if you have specific questions or concerns.

The Global MBA generally consists of 36 credit hours (12 classes) of coursework in the various instruction modes listed above.  Specific delivery mode is designed in a fashion that meets the needs of specific student cohorts in the various locations.

The College of Business has forged a relationship with several global partners in Taiwan, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore.  The global partners help promote our MBA and diploma programs and provides classroom facilities.  The global model has also been applied as a means to serve the regional business community with the 2001 coordination of the MBA program between BWXT and WTAMU at Pantex.  The on-site delivery of business courses at the Pantex facility officially started January 3rd, 2002 and served over one hundred student employees.

The Global program has proven to be a vital cultural exchange for both faculty and students. Students are able to learn the nuances of American business practices while faculty members spend up to three weeks in a foreign location and are able to tour cultural and commercial enterprises.

Graduates of the Global program have been hired and promoted by multinational corporations, formed their own business enterprise, or continued their education on the doctoral level in the United States.

Students seeking the Masters of Business Administration degree or Business Administration Diploma must first establish proficiency in Accounting, Economics, Business Statistics, Computer Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Finance, and Business Law. This proficiency may be established by courses taken in an undergraduate program, in coordination with our global partner, by completing advanced standing examinations, or by taking formal leveling courses.
