A fully accredited MBA programme (1-year full-time or 2-year part-time) in the heart of Amsterdam - one of Europe's main business centers. An internationally oriented programme with small class sizes, a genuine personal approach, and an emphasis on diversity in backgrounds and experience.
An MBA is the key qualification for managers to advance their careers. Our courses are stimulating, demanding and comply fully with the specification of an MBA as defined by EQUIS and AMBA. Our programme is designed to incorporate three Rs: Rigour, Relevance and Reliability.
A multidisciplinary general management programme such as an MBA has to be taught with academic rigour. Practicalities of applying a MBA differ across industry, geography and time and this is why we emphasise the importance of understanding underlying theories. We link theory to practice, centre our work on real life examples, bring the business world into the classroom and take the student into the business world. Last, reliability is important - students need to be confident in their knowledge while at the same time understanding its limitations. A business manager needs to be able to talk to various specialists in their own language but also know when to defer to their expertise.
We are aware of the importance of leadership competencies in personal professional development and therefore have initiated the Amsterdam Leadership Programme®. Our goal is to give students a high-quality business and management education to enable them to develop into effective leaders. Leaders who convey what our MBA stands for: internationally oriented and with a strong understanding of the importance of a genuine personal approach.
Tailormade, linking theory to practice
All the main business topics are taught in the core courses. By choosing 4 electives the Amsterdam MBA can be tailored to your own business interests. Courses are designed to combine academic rigour with practical relevance that brings the business world into the classroom.
International Study trip (core course)
The International Study trip is designed to give our students additional exposure to international business, particularly in emerging markets. The course comprises a one-week trip in which students follow lectures at a top Business School abroad and visit local companies and cultural events. In previous years the International Study Trip went to the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad (India) and the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University in Beijing (China). In January 2015 we will go to the University of Cape Town in South Africa. South Africa is a key emerging market and considered by many as the gateway to Africa. Additionally, the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business is among the world’s best Business Schools.
